Merci

Filed under: Our Family — Lisa @Me & My House @ 10:46 pm

Merci is here. Merci Raine to be exact. Our 7th grandchild was born tonight into my hands. Such an awesome event, honor, blessing. Baby and mama are both doing great. The labor and delivery went great. She is pure gorgeous. And Me-mo (me) is ecstatic but now tired. I’m really surprised I’m home and heading to bed at normal hour. This was more than we could have ever asked for.

Merci - about 5 min. old

Organic?

Anyone who follows my teaching at all, probably knows that if you value your health you should avoid foods grown/raised with conventional herbicides, pesticides, growth hormones, are genetically modified, etc. What you may not have gleaned is that organically grown/raised foods have more nutrients. So we highly recommend that you get organically grown foods whenever possible.

However, I know that it is not always possible. A list has been published on the top foods that are most important to purchase organic if you can, and  those that are least harmful, if you must purchase non-organic.

Produce is what we usually think of, when we think of buying organic. But butter contains the most residues (i.e. worst to buy non-organic), and meat is next.

Worst non-organic produce:

Peaches
Apples
Sweet bell peppers
Celery
Nectarines
Strawberries
Cherries
Lettuce
Grapes (imported)
Pears
Spinach
Potatoes

Safest non-organic produce:

Broccoli
Eggplant
Cabbage
Banana
Kiwi
Asparagus
Sweet peas (frozen)
Mango
Pineapple
Sweet corn (frozen)
Avocado
Onion

Another interesting bit of information I learned is:

* A conventionally grown product carries a 4-digit PLU code (Ex: conventionally grown banana: 4011)
* An organic product carries a 5-digit code, starting with the number 9: (Ex: organic banana: 94011)
* A genetically engineered (GE or GMO) product has a 5-digit code, starting with the number 8: (Ex: GE banana: 84011)

Revive Our Hearts

Filed under: For the Family — Lisa @Me & My House @ 10:37 am

I just received this from one of the "Quiverfull" bloggers, Steph. (See sidebar. I don’t have her site or I’d share it with you.)

This week on Revive our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss they are doing a GREAT program on "A Full Quiver". Both yesterday and today were just stunning…a great representation of the quiverfull mindset, especially taking much time to carefully examine the many different aspects of this important issue. Here is the link to yesterday’s program:

You can read the transcript of the program, or you can listen.

I haven’t had a chance to read or listen yet, but plan to.

Wedding Bells & Drinking from the Well

Filed under: Our Family — Lisa @Me & My House @ 5:47 pm

Dd’s wedding was yesterday. Although I didn’t have a whole lot of last minute things to do, just the normal wedding things - and out of town guests and not enough time to spend with them - my days and nights have been full, and I haven’t been on the computer for - what’s it been? - 3 days? Pretty unusual for me, and I’m sure my email box is full, but I haven’t even looked yet. So if you’re waiting a reply, it will be coming soon. Tomorrow will no doubt be back to life as ‘normal’. Although normal this week will be preparing for "The Seminar". (If you’re local, please check it out.)

After that, there is nothing on my calendar. Of course, that doesn’t mean I have nothing to do, but I plan to relax, prepare for our new studies, and maybe finish the rest of that "spring cleaning" that we didn’t get to.  Also hope to get back to blogging a little more regularly, once this whirlwind of extra activities for the last couple of months comes to a close.

Life is good, God is GREATER,

Still resting in the spirit, and sitting - At Jesus’ feet,

Birthday!!

For my birthday (Tues.) I did a little redecorating. Not full remodeling or anything, just some re-painting and wallpapering. Not the kind that causes any physical labor or money - things I’m currently short on - but the kind that is free and can be done sitting on the couch.

I changed backgrounds and updated many of my webpages. Take a look. Click on through to see several sections "freshened up".
