Introduction
- American Christian character, conscience and curriculum are needed to preserve our Christian Constitutional Republic.
- For parent/teachers to resist tyranny of socially prescribed goals of education, becoming obedient to God and accepting God’s historic purpose for our nation.
- Home is to become once again the educational center of this nation.
- It is necessary to restore to American Christians the knowledge of:
- America’s Christian History
- America’s role in the History of Liberty.
- It is impossible to teach the historic impact of the Gospel upon our nation’s character, curriculum and Constitution, by modern progressive teaching techniques.
- The Principle Approach is identified as our historic method of Biblical reasoning and writing.
- Our original foundations of character, conscience, curriculum, and Constitution have greatly eroded. One step at a time in faith we will go forward with our Great Deliverer and Restorer of paths to guide and direct us.
- It is only in 20th century America that we have diminished our view of the Sovereignty of God. And as we have done this - we have also diminished our conviction of the power of Christ in our nation.
- IMPORTANT! Must lay a Biblical historical governmental and educational foundation before building the superstructure of curriculum.
- The Christian home is the preparation for both the state and church. It:
- lays the foundation for civil and political character
- prepares the social element and taste
- determines what we are as a nation as well as individuals
- Many worldly elements seek to rob the home of sacred elements and serious devotion to teaching children Biblically, historically, governmentally, and academically.
- We need to restore the Christian home as the educational center of the nation
- We need to build an American curriculum from the Christian treasury of our nation.
- Building Constitutional Character at Home:
- develop in your students a character capable of acting from the Biblical principles of individual Christian self-government, property and voluntary union
- become knowledgeable of Key Individuals in history
- become knowledgeable of Ken Institutions of government
- Become masters of those subjects basic to the perpetuation of the Christian idea of man in government in America
- Teaching parents must learn the course content they are going to teach.
- By learning principles, leading ideas, and the Biblical and historical origin
- PA goal in home ed – to produce a reflective character, one able to listen to the still small voice of conscience which enables us to act appropriately in any circumstance.
- Slow down to put off the old patterns of secular learning.
- Put our learning into a framework of principles and leading ideas and then relate the facts to the unfoldment of them in the subject.
- We will become more effective learners as we teach ourselves to become more reflective.
- What is begun in the early years of schooling continue to deepen and to expand as we contemplate the Biblical purpose of each area of the curriculum.
- We distinguish each subject, but also recognize the basic unity of all subjects.
- In the beginning we lay the foundation for all subjects – [the seedbed]
- Christian homes have relinquished the responsibility to teach the Biblical principles of government to their children.
- Christian parents need not tyranny nor vengeance –but: Firmness and decision of love tempered and directed by the law of Christian duty and responsibility. That brings respect, love, … and yields a voluntary obedience to his commands, for they discerned in them the blessing.
- Children learn how to be self-governed as we work together to determine our areas of responsibility.
- Choose and master the subjects basic to perpetuating the world’s only Christian Constitutional Republic.
- America as a Christian nation means a mighty witness for God among all lands of the earth.
- All courses are designed for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.
